Job Description:
As a Senior Specialist in Hardware Configuration Management, you
will play a pivotal role in the strategic oversight and execution
of configuration management processes for complex hardware systems.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the consistency,
integrity, and accuracy of system documentation, drawings, design
artifacts, baselines, and related configuration information
throughout the product lifecycle. You will leverage your extensive
expertise to provide high-level support and guidance to engineering
and program management teams, ensuring alignment with contractual
requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Implementation: Lead the implementation and continuous
improvement of advanced hardware configuration management (HWCM)
processes, tools, and methodologies within Agile development
environments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and
industry standards.
Toolset Administration: Oversee and optimize the use of
sophisticated HWCM tools, including Agile Product Data Management
(PDM), Rational ClearQuest, Windchill, JIRA, and other platforms,
to streamline and enhance configuration management practices.
Compliance and Governance: Ensure rigorous adherence to Contract
Statements of Work (SOW), policies, procedures, and technical
documentation. Provide strategic oversight to ensure that all
documentation and configuration records meet or exceed compliance
standards.
Change Management: Direct the Configuration Change Board (CCB)
process, including the review, modification, and approval of
documents, drawings, and associated records. Ensure clarity,
compliance, and completeness in all change-related
documentation.
Documentation Control: Supervise the organization, review, and
authorization of new and revised drawings and documentation.
Guarantee that all program documentation complies with internal
standards, formatting requirements, and contractual obligations,
and that proper document control procedures are applied.
Expert Consultation: Serve as a subject matter expert, offering
advanced guidance and advice on HWCM methods, tools, and procedures
to project teams. Act as a key liaison between management and other
functional groups to address and resolve complex configuration
management issues.
Audit Support: Lead and support functional and physical
configuration audits, ensuring thorough preparation and adherence
to audit requirements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives
based on audit findings and industry best practices.
Quality Assurance: Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and
ensure the timely delivery of high-quality work products across
multiple projects. Proactively identify and address potential risks
to project timelines and quality.
Cross-functional Support: Provide high-level functional support to
engineering and program management activities, including analyses,
consultations, and special topic discussions as needed.
Qualifications:
Active Top Secret (TS) clearance is mandatory.
Extensive technical knowledge and experience in hardware
configuration management or related engineering disciplines,
demonstrated through a combination of advanced education and
extensive professional experience. Previous roles could include
Configuration Manager, Data Manager, Quality Assurance Technician,
or similar.
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with at least 4 years of
related experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years
of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience in An engineering support role such as configuration
manager (CM), quality assurance, design drafter, technical writer,
program operations analyst, systems support engineer, integration
and test engineer, specialty engineer, or similar.
Administering version control tools such as Product Lifecycle
Management (PLM), Agile PDM, SolidWorks, Subversion, Teamcenter,
Atlassian tools, or similar.
Or interest in leading teams and projects.
In-depth knowledge of Configuration Management standards such as
EIA-649C, MIL-STD-973, and familiarity with continuous process
improvement techniques like Lean Six Sigma.
Relevant Configuration Management certifications such as CMPIC or
NDIA are highly desirable.
Proficient in reading and interpreting Statements of Work (SOWs),
technical drawings, schematics, and parts lists.
Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including
advanced document creation, formatting, and automation techniques
in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
Expert time management ability and sense of urgency in meeting
critical deadlines
Willingness to work overtime and/or outside of normal business
hours as needed to meet deadlines and business requirements.
Advanced proficiency with version control and configuration
management tools such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Agile
PDM, SolidWorks, ClearCase, Subversion, Confluence, and
Windchill.
8 years of relevant experience in a technical support role, with a
proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service and
support in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
